Abu Dhabi is strengthening its electric mobility infrastructure with the launch of a major new charging initiative aimed at accelerating EV adoption across the emirate.
The latest Ultra-Fast EV Charging UAE project, known as “Barq”, was introduced by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) in partnership with TAQA Distribution. The initiative will bring more than 50 ultra-fast EV chargers to key locations across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, supporting the UAE’s long-term sustainable transportation strategy.
According to official announcements, the new charging stations will feature powerful 360 kW charging technology capable of delivering approximately 100 km of driving range in nearly three minutes under optimal charging conditions. The rollout reflects the growing focus on building faster, more accessible, and highly reliable charging infrastructure across the country.
The chargers will be installed at strategic public locations, including Manarat Al Saadiyat, Mina Market, Burjeel Hospital in Mohammed Bin Zayed City, UAE University, Tawam Hospital, Al Jimi Mall, and City Mall in Madinat Zayed.
One of the major highlights of the initiative is its customer-focused incentive, where every fourth charging session will be free of cost. The first operational phase of the Ultra-Fast EV Charging UAE network is expected to launch during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026, with visitors benefiting from complimentary charging services throughout the event week.
The project also aligns with the UAE National Electric Vehicles Policy and the National Air Quality Agenda 2031, both aimed at accelerating EV adoption and supporting cleaner transportation solutions across the region.
As demand for electric vehicles continues rising, investments in high-speed charging infrastructure are becoming increasingly important for enabling convenient long-distance travel and reducing charging wait times.
With EV infrastructure rapidly evolving across the Middle East, CITA EV Charger continues supporting the future of electric mobility through advanced AC and DC EV charging solutions designed for homes, businesses, fleets, and public charging networks.
