Sharjah EV Charging Network Expands with Fast Chargers

Sharjah is taking another significant step towards accelerating electric mobility with plans to expand its Sharjah EV Charging Network through the deployment of hundreds of fast EV charging stations across the emirate. The initiative, announced by the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) in partnership with BEEAH, will strengthen charging accessibility throughout Sharjah, including the city, coastal regions, highways, and key commercial districts.

The new charging network will feature strategically located fast chargers designed to reduce the distance between charging points and improve convenience for EV drivers. By expanding access to reliable charging infrastructure, the project aims to address one of the biggest challenges facing electric vehicle adoption – charging availability and range confidence.

The initiative also supports the UAE National Electric Vehicles Policy, which aims to increase the share of electric vehicles on the country’s roads to 50% by 2050. Alongside expanding public charging infrastructure, the project aligns with Sharjah’s broader sustainability goals, including reducing carbon emissions, promoting renewable energy, and supporting cleaner public transportation through electric buses, taxis, and future mobility solutions.

The expansion will benefit a wide range of sectors, including commercial properties, retail centres, hospitality businesses, residential communities, fleet operators, logistics companies, and public parking facilities. Improved charging accessibility will encourage more businesses and consumers to transition towards electric mobility while supporting the emirate’s long-term environmental objectives.
