The goal is to reduce emissions while unlocking new economic opportunities: nearly 200,000 green jobs are expected to be created, especially across the solar, battery, and hydrogen sectors. An estimated 3% of the national GDP is projected to stem from these transformations.

Under the Net Zero 2050 Strategy, the UAE is rolling out more than 25 tailored programs across six sectors—transport, power, industry, buildings, waste, and agriculture. For transport, this means ramping up electric vehicle (EV) adoption, modernising public transit systems, investing in electric logistics fleets, and creating city-wide EV charging infrastructure.

And the plan isn’t operating in silos. Over 45 government entities, ministries, and national companies are involved in aligning efforts to hit the emissions target, with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment leading coordination.
