Dubai Rolls Out New EV Charging Stations in 2025 to Power Its Electric Future

Dubai is gearing up for a sharp rise in electric vehicle (EV) adoption by rolling out new EV charging stations across key parking zones, starting in Q1 2025. This move comes as part of a joint effort between Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Parkin Company PJSC, Dubai’s largest provider of paid public parking facilities.

This move is part of a wider effort to expand EV infrastructure citywide, targeting underserved residential zones where public chargers are still scarce, just as EV adoption in the UAE continues to rise.

In Phase 1, 22 kW AC charging stations will be installed in Zones A and C – dense residential areas with limited EV support—serving two parking spots each for faster, more efficient charging.

Charging stations are built into Parkin’s network, letting users pay for both parking and New EV Charging Stations in one go through the Parkin app and digital wallet.

This rollout is part of the DEWA EV Initiative, which was launched to accelerate Dubai’s shift toward green mobility and support the city’s environmental goals under the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and Dubai Social Agenda 33.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, emphasised that expanding access to charging points will not only support electric vehicles in Dubai but also contribute to cutting carbon emissions from the transport sector. “These efforts reflect our commitment to advanced EV infrastructure and are aligned with the UAE’s climate goals,” he said.

Parkin’s Role in EV Infrastructure Growth

As Dubai’s main public parking operator, Parkin is central to the city’s EV shift. By embedding chargers into its existing parking network, it expands infrastructure without adding clutter or disrupting traffic.

Commenting on the DEWA partnership, CEO Eng. Mohamed Al Ali said, “This strengthens our infrastructure and moves us closer to a more sustainable urban transport future.”

By focusing on high-traffic areas, Parkin is turning overlooked spots into valuable EV hubs, supporting Dubai’s long-term EV goals with a smart strategy and steady commitment.
