ADNOC Distribution has marked a major milestone in electric mobility by unveiling one of the world’s six largest superfast EV charging hubs, strategically positioned on a key UAE Highway. The launch signals a decisive shift in how long-distance electric travel is being supported across the United Arab Emirates, placing highway charging at the centre of national EV infrastructure planning.
The newly inaugurated EV Mega Hub is located at Saih Shuaib on the E11 corridor, the busiest UAE Highway linking Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Designed to serve high-volume commuter and intercity traffic, the site features 60 high-speed EV charging points, ranking it among the largest EV charging hubs globally. The facility spans nearly three times the footprint of a traditional service station and introduces a next-generation roadside experience, complete with a convenience store, food outlets, and dedicated coworking spaces.
This development arrives as EV adoption in the UAE continues to accelerate. Industry estimates indicate that electric vehicle registrations in the country grew by over 30% in 2024, while the government targets EVs to account for 50% of all vehicles on UAE roads by 2050. To support this transition, ADNOC Distribution has outlined a clear roadmap to electrify UAE Highways by the end of 2027, ensuring seamless charging access for long-distance EV users.
Currently, ADNOC Distribution operates more than 560 service stations in the UAE and has installed close to 370 EV charging points nationwide under its E2GO network. The company plans to expand this footprint significantly, with 15 new EV charging hubs scheduled by the end of 2026, followed by an additional five shortly after. Once completed, the network will provide comprehensive superfast EV coverage across all major national highways, reducing range anxiety and supporting sustained EV growth.
Government officials have welcomed the project, noting that expanding high-speed charging along critical transport corridors is essential to lowering transport-related energy consumption and strengthening the UAE’s position as a regional leader in clean mobility.
